Although I only had two semester of English at university, I definitely think I had improve my skills, coming to know more about this language than what I had learn't at school years ago. Now I am better specifically at listening because I understand inmediatly what I ear, and at speaking because I feel confortable when I am put at situations were I have to talk to others in english. Despite of that, of course I have to keep getting better because I think my grammar and writing it's still weak. For that, I have to read more. I usually read papers and magazines like Time or Rolling Stones, but now we are ending the semester and sadly I don't have much time as I would like to have to read on my free time. I am constantly exposed to this language either watching movies, listening to music or reading stuffs on internet. Oh and on april of next year it will be launched the last season of Game of Thrones, which it's my favorite serie, so I will be listening to the ac...

From my experience studing four semesters on this university, I think this one right now has been the most difficult.  Because of this years feminist revolution on our universities and public spaces, and the following suspension of classes and take of the buldings, we had to learn in a very short time, almost 3 months, the subjects of what it should have been learnt on 5 months.  I think the subject '‘feature story’' should have been taught at least one semester before ''radio 2'' and ''audiovisual languaje'', because in those subjects we have to do reportages too. It would have been better to already have managed the concept of building a story before, because first of all, we should learn to do it properly on the writing area. A good thing I have noticed on this two years studing here, on University of Chile, it’s that knowledge’s strategies are well distribuided: ''practice'' takes almost fifty percent of our study...

My favourite female artist it's Lana del Rey. She is a singer and songwriter from New York, United States. At the middle of 2011 she became to win popularity on internet with her first hit, Video Games. What captured people's attention on this song was her melancholic tone. Actually, when I first heard it I felt the pain and suffering this girl was transmiting through his singing. After her first single, the singer went straight to top,   debutating numer 2 at billboard 200 with her album Born to Die, on january of 2012. From that moment til now, the artist has released five albums, all of them had received favorable reviews from professional critics, according to Metacritic. She as also worked on film soundtracks of movies like The Great Gatsby, which garnered her a Grammy nomination, and Big Eyes. For this last film, she earned a Golden Globe nomination. I knew her when I was just a teenager and since that I had been following her musical and visual work. Be...

Today I am going to write about something very serious that has been happening in our country from a long time ago, for almost fifty years: a constant contamination on the sacrifice zone of the Quintero - Puchuncaví bay. What we saw on 21 of august of this year was just a little demostration; the tip of an iceberg that has been growing for decades. More than 300 kids had to be evacuated from his schools, what should be supposedly a safe place guaranteed by the State, because of a toxic cloud made of gases released from 18 plants located on a very limited coast of only 5 kilometers. All of this contamination has been happening because of the impunity and lack of environmental regulations in our constitution that have always protected the pockets of the companies's owners that make up the industrial cordon. After four months, there has not been any solution because kids are keep getting sick, although now the numbers are less. I think those plants should have closed immediately...

When I finish to study here on JGM (hopefully in 3 years left, haha), I would definetely like to keep studying so I don’t lose the habit. I think it would be good to do a master or a specialization on international area. I haven’t search a course in specific but it would be here in University of Chile or maybe in Pontifical Catholic University. Although I am a bit overwhelmed with homework now, I think it’s important to keep improving our skills as a journalists, despite of living stressed haha. We are in the perfect age to learn. After all, our profession its stressful by itself, because we have to be constantly updated about all the news, Like I said in the last blog, I am truly clear that my main goal is to do a PHD on London School of Economics, to keep learning and to finally become an international analist because that is what I have always been interested on. Of course, at that moment I have to be living in the United Kingdom, and for that, I have to be a really good j...

My dream job would be of course as a journalist, but working on another countrys, which would allow me to know different cultures and societies. That would be really satisfying for me because it's what I have always dreamed since I was just a girl. I would not mind if I had to work on an office, like a newsroom or something like that. But it would be nice to work outside, maybe covering news going in direct for the radio or TV going, because some journalist lose perspective when they work 24/7 on an office. One of the things that motivated me to study journalism it was that I wanted so badly to travel around the globe! I hope that in the future the opportunity will present to me, but of course it will require hard work to be ready for that moment. In the future, when I already had experience working, I would like to do PHD at the London School of Economics, to become an expert in international analysis. I really want to learn and understand how events and news around the worl...

I may be a few one that definitely enjoyed his school days. I could say that several times I have been caught myself remembering my experience studying in Calbuco, where my friends and I used to spent all day. Actually, we grew up together. I studied since kindergarden to senior year of high school on San Miguel School, which enable me to create a very close relationship with my schoolmates through the years. In fact, I am still friend with most of them, although now all of us are studying in different cities. Besides of being all day together on the classroom, we also used to meet on weekends too, to party or to do our homeworks. Now I realize that we were seeing each other a lot, more than spending time at our houses with our families. From that perspective I see that it was inevitable that we became like brothers and sisters!  I think our friendship it's different from other ones I have made now. My ex schoolmates are what I call ''real friends'', because w...

I certainly think that climate change it’s because of this capitalism way of living that has lead our country and world. Nowadays, we are heading to an increase of 3° C on the global temperature, a lot more than 2°C stablished on the Paris Agreement. Chile it’s going to be one of the ten countrys most afected by climate change. What happened to the critical zone of Quintero - Puchuncaví its just a demostration of how we are in a limit situation. How it is possible that this had to explote this way to make us realize what was going on? Although Chile as stablished as a goal obtaining 20 percent of his electricity from renunable sources at 2025, its not only about using clean energy, but using less energy. Most people don't get that. Also, Chile is one of the most affected countrys by the hole on the ozone layer. Our generation its the last hope because there’s no time left to stop global warming. As a citizens of the world, we must do something now. But that won'...

The best concert I’ve been to it was one that Justin Bieber did on 2013, at the Estadio Nacional. It was the first time I went to Santiago and the first time I had traveled a long distance from my hometown, Calbuco, which is 1000 kilometers from here. And I was just fifteen! It was on november 12, so summer was getting close to the capital. My best friend and I had to wait on the line to enter for like nine hours and we were almost melting. It was a Little bit exhausting because of that, but all the wait was worth! Inside the building my friend and I sneaked on to better seats and we were able to see him closer. That made the experience even better! The feeling of that moment, while I was seeing him live was pure joy. I think it was one of the most amazing experiences I had on my teen years. I was such a big fan of him! I grew up listening to his songs, and at the time that I attented to the concert he already was a global super star. Justin Bieber’s concert brought togethe...

If right now I had the chance to buy a ticket to travel anywhere in the world, I would definitely choose United Kingdon. Since I was a child I have always wanted to visit this big country because of its relevance on History, and because the landscapes are beautiful and diverse.  This kingdom its made up of four countrys: Northern Ireland, Wales, Scotland and England, each one with different subcultures and customs. It is this variety of traditions that have always seems so interesting to me. To be honest, everything about this place sounds fascinating, it catches my attention immediately. It would be a dream come true to visit London. There is so many things to do there! like going to the London Eye, to the Big Ben, to the Natural History Museum, among others. However, what I mostly desire it is to work for the BBC, which headquarters at Broadcasting House, located in London. Actually, this dream is my main goal in life so if I work hard, I am going to achie...
